Parable

Parable is an art, climate adaptation and memory cultures project.

Our vision is to support the stability, flexibility and capacity of artists and their communities,
embracing change and cultivating seeds of possibility within us.

We work with artists and their communities to expand understanding of climate change adaptation.

We commission artists engaged in hyperlocal climate action to create adaptation artworks, bringing other knowledges together with sustainability.

We work with artists and communities to sensitively reclaim and organise ancestral practices, unlock new knowledge, and generate opportunities for sustainable development and social justice.

We look after these artworks on a specially commissioned decolonial archive: Parable.

A public peer-learning framework deepens and broadens place-based knowledge of degrowth and prepares each other for everyday climate adaptation.

We are called Parable in honour of Octavia Butler’s novels exploring climate change and social inequality, survival and adaptation, spirituality and transformation. Together we will navigate the tumultuous waters of transformation and emerge stronger, wiser, and more aligned with our true selves.
